Join us for a Saturday Morning Family Fun Run and Walk

As part of "Lighten Up Dallas," the Mayor's fitness challenge, Dallas' Mayor Laura Miller is hosting the third annual "Mayor's Race 5K Fun Run and Walk." The 5K (3.1 mile) event features a scenic tour across the Trinity River and through historic Oak Cliff. A shorter one-mile course will also be available to encourage participation by all family members at all levels of fitness. The cost is ultra-affordable: $5 per entrant and $10 per family! Net proceeds from the Mayor's 5K Walk & Fun Run will benefit the Dallas Parks & Recreation Department Youth Programs.

2006 Mayor's Race Schedule
7:00 am Race-Day Registration, Packet Pick-up, Pre-Race Activities and Live Music
8:30 am Mayor Miller and Ronald McDonald lead the pre-race warm-up
9:00 am Run & Walk begins
9:45 am Post-Race Snacks & Live Music
10:00 am Head over to the already-in-progress Marathon Expo at the Dallas Convention Center


Registration cost*: $5 per person; $10 per family of four (4).
Registration includes:
  • T-Shirt (limited to 2 shirts per family registration)
  • One (1) pair of New Balance shoes for the first 250 children who register (up to age 10)
  • Refreshments
  • Entertainment
  • Entry to FITNESS EXPO

Packet Pick-up: Packet pick-up will begin at 7:00 a.m. on the morning at the race on the north side of Reunion Arena.
Parking: Parking is free of charge at Reunion Arena (North Entrance)
Race Day Schedule: 7:00-7:45 a.m. Race Day Registration opens; pre-race activities and entertainment
8:45 a.m. Mayor Miller leads the pre-race warm-up; registration closes
9:00 a.m. 5K Run & Walk begins!
9:45 a.m. Refreshments & entertainment
10:00 a.m. Visit the FITNESS EXPO!
